Will my software work?
I’ve had a number of questions about what software will / won’t work with the new Apple operating system, due out shortly.
If it uses PowerPC code, it won’t run. If it doesn’t use PowerPC code, it might run. Only your software vendor can tell for sure.
To tell if a program uses PowerPC code, start the program and then start Activity Monitor (located in the Utilities folder). Make sure you are showing All Processes, then click on “kind.”
Scroll through the list. If you see “PowerPC” in the list, that program probably won’t work. Start looking for an update, a replacement or see if you can do without it.
Cordially,
Steven
